At our school, environmental responsibility is part of our daily routine. We have implemented a waste separation system with four coloured containers distributed around the playgrounds and common areas: Yellow for packaging and plastics, Blue for paper and cardboard, Brown for organic waste and Green for the rest.
This system helps students develop responsible recycling habits from an early age and reinforces environmental awareness across the whole school community.
In addition, we are carrying out a specific recycling project focused on expanded polystyrene (EPS). This material, commonly used in packaging, occupies a large volume but can be significantly reduced. By dissolving it in acetone, its volume decreases by approximately 97%, making it easier to manage and reuse.
The resulting material can be moulded and reshaped into small objects such as accessories, decorative elements or jewellery. Through this initiative, students not only learn about material properties and chemical processes, but also about circular economy principles and creative reuse.
